Plan and do nothing? Our last day in Ceylon

We wake up at some point. I go in search of the baker's tuktuk and Kathi sets the table. This time we are lucky and can have breakfast in the garden. The landlord has a table brought for us and we sit comfortably outside under palm trees. We plan our day in Dubai and confer.

It quickly becomes clear that we would love to do everything on the one day we are in Dubai. But it also quickly becomes clear that this probably won't work. We first book a German-speaking round trip through Dubai, starting at the airport. Then the Burj Kalifa, the tallest building in the world, and then, but that remains open, a desert safari. We'll see what we can do. And how tired we are.

Now we have to go to the pool and the sea. Gerd and the children now have a new plan. They go to cool off in the sea (28 degrees) and then go to the warm pool (30 degrees?). That sounds good and incredibly logical, doesn't it? I join in and realise that such a day with a plan is quite something. A few minutes later, we're already lying by the pool again, waiting to see what the day will bring.

We spend the evening again in our favourite beach bar and end the evening with curry, daal and a few rounds of UNO.

We still pack our backpacks and are in bed by half past eight. The alarm clock will ring shortly before 11 in the night and the taxi will pick us up punctually one hour before midnight.

Within a few minutes we are in a taxi and driven to the airport in Colombo. Contrary to expectations, the streets are still quite busy, it is Sunday night, and we make good progress on the expressway. So after one and a half hours we are already at the airport and hand in our backpacks. Various security and passport controls later, we are sitting at PizzaHut, hungry again out of boredom or whatever, and eat the most expensive dinner, or breakfast, of this whole holiday.

Because the airport is under construction during the day, we should be there 5 hours before and now realise that we are easily 3 hours early. Our flight doesn't leave until shortly before 6 in the morning.
