It is also called the "Grand Canyon of Switzerland". The Safiental with the Rhine Gorge. Well, you can see it that way, but you don't have to. In any case, this Rhine Gorge is very impressive. Below, the Rhine winds for 14 km in an enchanting blue-green colour. We drive along bend after bend at the top and marvel at the mighty rock formations and the river in the depths. (I also marvel at and admire the many cyclists who cycle up and down without a motor as if there were no gradients). On the opposite side, we are watching a small rock fall and a white powder lava slide down. I don't want to paddle along the bottom in a kayak.
In Versam we wind our way down the 300 metres of altitude to the station and encounter a mass hike. Apparently this is THE destination par excellence. Here we find a nice place for lunch in the @cafe2einkehr and once again very nice conversations with the table neighbours.
After an extensive break, we finally decide on the next destination: the Oberalp Pass and possibly an overnight stay in Andermatt. Let's see if we find something there.
