The Oberalp Pass road from Disentis to Andermatt is a 32 km dream route. In the past, when you couldn't get up and down again in a short time on these new modern motorbikes, it was a beautiful, albeit certainly arduous, mule track. Later, after the muleteers, came the stagecoaches. (Today the road is very well developed, a bit too much traffic for our taste (yes, yes, we know, we are part of the traffic!) and to the right and left of the road high mountains, a meandering river (Oberalp-Reuss), kitschy-looking stone bridges and hiking trails galore.
However, we are driven onwards, the day was long and eventful, we are not really long-distance drivers and we want to finally arrive somewhere. We don't yet know where that will be. Andermatt with its posh hotels and the corresponding prices will hardly be it. We know that by now.
