We camped on a meadow in Niedereschach. I don't know how many motorcyclists were there this year, but there must have been hundreds, if not thousands. There were only porta-potties and free showers, no luxury. And yet: a super clean place, right to the end. Cordiality, wonderful conversations, exchange. Talking shop (okay, I kept to myself, I simply have no idea how many cylinders, air cooling or suspension struts...). Being together is fun here. And there are some weird guys among the long-distance motorbike travellers. But here the rule is: the weirder, the more exciting. We walked around the place, looked at tent constructions, pannier systems, cookers and tarps. We asked questions and got answers. It doesn't matter if you're a beginner or a pro: the atmosphere was simply connecting and cordial.
And then: after 4 days they go home, each to their own world. For some it's on to the journey, for others to the office. And for others it's time to plan. Because in a year's time it will start. The big journey. Where to? We don't know. But we have recorded a podcast about it, which we want to put online this week.
