Great Journey 🇸🇪 Day 568
Manipulation at its best.
We come out of the Volvo Museum and Gerd tells me, beaming with joy, "Let's buy a Volvo!"

What simple creatures we humans are, after all.

We arrive in Gothenburg and I navigate us to a parking space at the harbour. We kind of love harbour parking spaces. Once here, I tell my beloved that we have another visit to the museum tomorrow. "Ah. Yes. Nice..." is his highly motivated reaction. He doesn't know yet that we're going to the Volvo Museum.

The morning comes quickly, the museum has even been open a few minutes when we are standing in front of the door. We dive into the history of Sweden & Volvo, which is inseparable.

We sit in the Volvo Cinema and as we are the only visitors, the (marketing?) film is played for us in German. We learn that "Volvo" simply means "I roll". That safety issues have always influenced research and development and yes, we also discover a few bitter design slips.

On the other hand, we marvel at the old buses with wooden rims and velvet seat covers. And we learn that Volvo really has a hand in everything. The truck division (the front I always admire on our trip, those jaunty, slanted V-headlights inspire me every single time!), the trucks and articulated tipper super excavators and also war machinery are indispensable. In Gothenburg, almost only electric Volvo buses drive around and there is also a lot to see about the whole electric car development. The fact that Volvo (passenger cars) is no longer in Swedish hands is only mentioned in passing and very hastily.

Hours later, we actually still want to see the city, my husband dreams himself into a Volvo. It could be a truck, one with big tyres, lots of horsepower and a loading area where even Felix would find room. I let him dream. Every boy wants to be a truck driver, don't you think?
