Today I can't get the grin off my face. The mountainous and winding region shows itself from its most beautiful side, I enjoy the ride very much. The road leads along the Euphrates and I think of Heike, who had attached so much importance to this river.
I meet a French couple on a motorbike, we stop, tell each other motorbike yarn (does that exist?) and when the Turkish petrol station attendant joins us, I am once again glad for google-translate. This way we can "talk" to him without knowing his language.
Unfortunately, my sweets budget gets totally out of control and I buy "everything once". Those are the moments when I wish I had Heike here. She would either regulate the unrestrained purchases in advance or (more likely) eat everything herself and thus save me from a calorie shock.
Incidentally, I wouldn't have mentioned it at all if I hadn't uploaded the photo of my slip into our shared picture collection. A clear case of "it's my own fault".
And I've learned: the cool mountain temperatures are much easier to bear with a quilted jacket. I drive dream road after dream road, don't even notice that I'm coming down from the high altitudes and start to sweat. A glance at the thermometer shows: 30 degrees. What a surprise, you don't even know what to wear...
