Podcast No. 156 - A longer diversions to the south - Ireland - Great Journey

Great Journey 🇮🇪 Day 700
We park our Felix within walking distance of Dublin's "Temple Bar", the pub district. After the hour-long crossing, we want to get moving. And we just start walking.

It doesn't take long and the music draws us into the pubs. Live music, dancing people and just a great atmosphere. We have a drink here, stroll on, are already in the next pub and the Friday night flanier party mile is filling up. Was it a good idea to park in town and spend the night?

While we watch the people and listen to one or the other, we are relieved to find that most of them speak English here and not Irish. The English here in Dublin comes from all corners of the world, the Irish we hear in the morning when we turn on the radio. Wow, not understanding anything.

We read signs, each of which is bilingual, and try to discover any similarity with any language we know. And I can say it right away: we will not succeed.

After a really long and cosy pub-live music hopping, we curl up in our little house, look forward to tomorrow (me a bit more, because the Emigrant Museum is at the top of the wish list) and sleep deeply happy the first night in Ireland.

Addendum: No, the night was not quiet, of course. Cobblestones, party people, passing cars and the punctual 5 o'clock rubbish disposal trucks inform us that city life goes on around the clock. Actually, we should know. But what would this life be without the "actually"? Boring, or at least slept in today.

Merci for "travelling with us

We are thinking about taking another break from travelling in the summer and visiting our families in Germany and Switzerland. One of the ideas is to organise a Lecture about our long journey to the Persian Gulf to prepare. If you would like to, what would interest you the most? We will also tell stories here that don't find a place here on the blog. We're thinking of the Bern and Berlin area - simply because we have family there. But other places are also conceivable. Feel free to write to us.

Do you think our travel experiences might be of interest to others? Then you can share the Share post quietly. By e-mail or however you want to do it.

In addition, if you haven't already done so, you can use our Newsletter subscribe. Here you will receive all our experiences in your mailbox whenever we publish something new or once a week on Fridays: live-pur.ch/newsletter

We are also very happy to hear your views, your tips or your questions. Just comment on the post!
