Preparing for a long-distance relationship.
The closer we get to our big trip (not even 6 months!) the more the thoughts of the time without the familiar surroundings circle. I'm not worried about the "things" like the flat, books, kitchen, etc. I'll miss the "people". I will miss the "people". Especially the family and friends. ❣️Where and with whom will we spend Christmas?
❣️What if the big kids need closeness (or mum is just longing)?
❣️What will become of the regular hikes in the mountains and the wonderful conversations with the girlfriend? ❣️To which loving household will our cat move?
My strategy for preparing for our trip is as follows: enjoy every moment together, more than usual. Create more moments together (even just make a Thursday a Sunday) and also talk about the thoughts regarding the long local separation. It's not always easy. But still very bonding. Yesterday was another bonding day. My dear friend took a day off especially for me and travelled with me to the Aletsch Glacier. I've been near it a few times, but I've never seen it before. (Pictures of that in the next post!) I will, when I have a longing somewhere in the world, just look at all the pictures, remember what we have experienced together and know that when the journey ends at some point, we will be allowed to return to a beautiful place and to people very close to us. And until then, we will spend time together as often as we can and then, during the trip, Skype, Facetime and WhatsApp will have to do.
