Great Journey 🇸🇪 Day 522
Slowly we feel really comfortable in our slow-travel rhythm. We find a nice spot in a small village directly on the Gulf of Bothnia just before Luleå.
Here we plug into the available sockets, enjoy the full battery, quickly recharge the internet and turn the heating up to 20 degrees. The mercury (nonsense, the temperature!) outside is supposed to drop to -18 degrees.
We are ready for another multi-day travel break in our mobile office. At arm's length, the coffee kitchen, boiler room, storage shed and cloakroom. One step further, the wellness area, shortly behind it - very tempting after the lunch break - the relaxation room with snooze option.
We use the breaks, which of course only make sense during the day (sun from 9 a.m. to 2.30 p.m.) for short walks through the snow-covered village and visit the currently frozen and thus abandoned harbour. Our hearts leap (with fear? Maybe!) when a car drives out onto the ice, just like that, and heads for an offshore archipelago island. Across the lake. Right in front of us. I don't even want to look, we think about what if...
And because we can't think of anything else, we trust that they know what they are doing. Our own hike across the ice is much more relaxed, after all, we count together: Heike + Gerd < car.
So we can venture out and admire not only family rides on snowmobiles and frozen sea bosoms (what a strange word!) but above all, as we do every day when the sun peeks out, the variety of colours of the constantly slanting sun.
