Great Journey ⛴ 🇸🇪 Day 493
What a bunch of "Bünzli-Schwiizer" we are. We get up far too early. We arrive at the ferry much too early. So early, in fact, that the check-in machine is still asleep and refuses to do its job.
Gerd goes to the machine, enters everything tiptop. The machine tiredly indicates that the tickets would come out printed. But they do not.
We get out, sneak around the machine, look right, look left. Nothing. At some point I discover the help button and also the camera. I ask (actually only Gerd) if this is the hidden camera. Nothing. No answer, neither from the help button nor from Gerd.
Suddenly, a terminal employee stands next to us, laughs, holds our check-in card out to us and as we leave, he calls out to us with a laugh, yes, he would have heard about the hidden camera! I'm not sure now whether the following travellers are even greeted with a joke.
We queue up, are the first (why do we always have to be so punctual?) and stand romantically in the sunrise. Nils Holgersson, our ship, is already waiting for us and we are tingling with excitement. We're about to set off!
Do we need to mention that the ship is almost empty, we are the only ones with a camper and apart from a few Swedish cars and even fewer trucks there are no tourists on the road?
And how it is: when angels travel, my dad always said, the sun shines. The Baltic Sea is as smooth as glass, the sun is shining for the first time since we left Switzerland and we move into a couple of armchairs in the lounge. A little work, a few more stitches on my Norwegian jumper and a whole lot of "sea view" and we are simply satisfied. The fact that there are no Kanelbullar in the onboard bistro would be a tiny minus point.
Sweden, we are ready!
