Big break 🇨🇭 Day 430
There are two hearts beating in both our breasts (is that how you say it when you talk about the respective breast in two people?)
So, there are two hearts beating in my chest, but also in Gerd's. Like this. Better.
On the one hand, the love for our favourite city of Bern, on the other, the desire to travel. If you decide to travel, you have to decide against home. Temporarily.
It is all the nicer to stroll through the town once again with its red trams, the almost uniform green-grey façades, the arcades and the fountains, which are simply magical. And then the Aare meanders through the town. Or around the town. Who knows for sure.
In summer, it invites you to take a boat trip along the Aare and swim in the Aare (yes, that's what they call it here!), you walk a little towards the mountains, jump into the cool water - it takes a bit of effort. The water comes from these very mountains, it is sometimes (actually mostly!) bitterly cold. And then you float back into the city. With a view of the Bundeshaus. Oh, how beautiful.
This time we're dreaming of a swim, today we're just walking along the Aare, which is lined with autumnal colours. We let the warming rays of sunshine shine on our noses for a while. And we're happy to be here and just as happy to be moving on soon. That's how it is with two hearts. A double heart, so to speak.
Fun fact for all Rhinelanders and Rhine neighbours:
There is a rule that when one river joins another, it is always named after the river with the most water, the main river. The Rhine should therefore actually be called the Aare, as it carries 50 per cent more water at its confluence with the Rhine at Koblenz. This would have numerous effects on many place names such as Weil an der Aare, Aareland-Pfalz or Nordaare-Westfalen. (Source: Jungfrauzeitung.ch)
See you soon, you beautiful city!
