Bulgaria has been a big surprise for us.
The number of turtles per trip is increasing
🛑 Road traffic rules seem to be only recommendations
🕳️ Potholes lurk everywhere
⛰️ We like the mountainous areas better than the coast
The sand on the beach is stubbornly adhesive and will accompany us for days to come
Without exception, the people have been super friendly to us
The fashion is super diverse, no mainstream recognisable
🚘 Despite sad-looking villages and apparent poverty, Bulgarians drive huge new cars of Western brands (that's why we say: apparently).
The cuisine only convinced us to a limited extent, perhaps because it was too meat-heavy. For me, the cold 🥒 cucumber yoghurt soup and Bob, the warm bean soup were highlights, Gerd fell in love with the 🥗 schopska salad.
