Great Journey 🇳🇴 Day 546/2
Our dream is to travel with the Hurtigruten one day.
I want to book a few stops and realise that our little Felix is too high for Hutigruten. They don't want to take him.
A new plan is needed!
We quickly find the solution: we simply go to the Hurtigruten Museum on the island of Hadseløya. Here we can admire the old MS Finnmarken. And again we are standing in a construct where they have simply put a ship in a building and then call the whole museum.
We learn that the Hurtigruten are closely connected to the Norwegian soul, that they still deliver the mail today and that they have been sailing along the Norwegian coast since 1893. We also learn that for a while things were not so good for the then 7 ships and only a financial injection by the state saved them.
Today you can travel with as a guest, send cargo or just hop on and off for fjord hopping. One day we'll do that too, but at the moment we're still too attached to our Felix.
We can stroll through all the floors, oh no, decks. Stand on the bridge, in the engine room, rattle the pots in the kitchen and marvel at the really small cabins for the passengers. The museum's cafeteria is simply housed in the ship's original restaurant. Everything in the nice 60s style of the last century.
But the best thing about the cafeteria is a long video conversation with Barbara and Robert - we sit in the 60s ship interior, they in Mexico under palm trees and we have a nice chat. Thank you, wonderful people, for the wonderful time together, which inspired us for hours afterwards!
