Best investment this year (so far). I haven't been skiing for years. But since I can't and don't want to do without the mountains, I go running. It's much nicer anyway. Okay, the pace could still change - but I'm working on that with the active support of Katrin (if it were just the two of us here, I'd say she's being very strict with me in training for my very own #ProjectMovement).
So, for years I've been running up and down the mountains and, when it gets too steep, I always slide down on the seat of my trousers. Safety first.
And with admiration and a little envy I always look at the hikers who put "spikes" under their shoes. They simply trudge up and down the steepest mountains, the smoothest slopes. While I'm on all fours.
But: During the Christmas and New Year holidays, I went on a research trip, approached all the people with the so-called "Iseli", probably the diminutive form of iron, probably Eisenchen, and asked them about it. And then, on the penultimate day of my holiday, I got myself these Iseli. And what can I say? Mega! Why did I wait so long? Without poles, I'm sure I can trudge down any slope, no matter how icy it is (I'm not so good at going up anyway). A little fun fact: Never ski with Iseli. When you brake, you hit the brakes hard (the name says it all!), not just a little bit. My bloody ankle didn't think that was so cool, turning around its own axis once...
