Great Journey 🏍 Day 130
The Polylimnio Waterfalls. A little treasure, almost by the wayside. The path is completely flooded due to all the rain in the last few days, we just trudge through the water. (Me more, Gerd seems to have opted for stone-to-stone jumping, he does have the longer legs).
The weather is strange today. Hazy. Dull. The Sahara wind blown over by some wind makes the sky look pale and hides the sun. Although there is not a single cloud in the sky.
And then, after almost 9 weeks of travelling through olive groves and a seemingly dry landscape, we enter a kind of jungle. Everything is overgrown, the stones are covered with moss and one small waterfall follows the next. Until, at the very end, a 25 m high (deep?) waterfall forms the conclusion.
At the moment, of course, it's winter, which means the flowers and shrubs are barely in bloom, if at all. I would love to come here again when the oleander is in bloom and the grasses in the water are green. But even so, it was a dream.
Oh yes, here too we were almost alone, only 2 other hiking couples and the ranger were cavorting in this beautiful area.
A good hour later we are back at the bike, swap wet trainers for warm socks and motorbike boots, chat briefly with a Scottish long-term traveller, cuddle his dog and happily make our way back to our tranquil Koroni.
