Great Journey 🏍 Day 308
The mountains simply have a special energy. They attract us magically. This time it's the Taurus Mountains, or more simply: the Taurus.

A mountain range that is around 1500 kilometres long and snuggles up to the Mediterranean Sea in Turkey.

We set off into the mountains, drive straight up and then it's just great. There are no double-lane motorways or motorways here. Here, small country roads meander in little bends. If you leave the road to avoid tea breaks in the villages, it gets bumpy pretty quickly. Malou is in her element, Gerd too. The camera child Heike snaps the films full.

I have to say that I am very grateful that we no longer have to give films to be developed. In the evening, 3/4 of all the pictures are deleted again anyway, but there are still a lot of them on the hard drive. But as it is with graphic artists: we are collectors and "can-be-used-again" people.

We take one of the breaks at a waterfall, a second one at one of those street cafés right next to a petrol station. Quite cute here, behind the counter 3 youngsters aged about 10 to 16 (seems to be a family business, as so often). They don't understand English, my Turkish is enough for water, tea and gözleme. "Gözleme no!" Okay, by hand signal we continue, we get something to eat.

We observe that they got out their mobile phones behind the counter and run a few sentences through the translator.

Shortly afterwards, the youngest comes out: "Do you want ..." And then he has forgotten the rest of the sentence, becomes embarrassed. We help out, guessing what he wants to say. He smiles, brings us a new batch of tea and is happy. So are we.

We are full and as we leave, the young restaurateurs wave to us, shouting "bye bye!" and "enjoy you meal!". OK, we'll do that when we eat again. Until then, we enjoy the Taurus. But so much!
