"The early worm travels on empty roads". Or something like that is the saying, isn't it? Saturday morning, shortly after 7, we are sitting on the motorbikes in the most beautiful rising sun and want to get going. "Where to, actually?" "Hm, good question, I'll quickly look something up." Only a few minutes later we pass the shutdown nuclear power plant in Mühleberg. Wonderful peace and quiet. Nature seems to have only just awakened, the roads are empty. We are in bon vivant mode.
We continue south through the hilly landscape of the Gantrisch Nature Park via Guggisberg to the Gruyère Pays-d'Enhaut Nature Park (I still can't pronounce it correctly - but I don't have to) and back via Saanen through the Simmental, another detour through the Gantrisch and then home. ????
For the time being, the last weekend without on-the-go enjoyment in beautiful cafés. This time there is a picnic version of zMorgen and zMittag. At some point from 11 a.m. we meet several motorbike travellers, who probably all have their on-the-go food in their side pockets. We pause here and there, I drink my much-loved instant coffee (yes, I am a coffee gourmet! ) and eat raw vegetable salad (which can be prepared wonderfully and is still not hanging out of our ears...) with fresh bread from Beck on the way. We try a midday nap, but realise that 25° degrees and blazing sun are not the ideal sleeping environment and then prefer to listen to the frog concert, we are the only guests.
In the Simmental, however, we "drive" along the only road in a traffic jam. Countless motorbikes, convertibles, beautiful old-timers and also simply the farmers' tractors share the road with us. The good thing about this kind of drive is that nature glides by us slowly and we have time to take a good look at everything and enjoy it. (However, I notice from the revving engine noises and interesting overtaking manoeuvres of some motorcyclists that not everyone sees it the same way as I do). I stroll along (am I even the cause of the traffic jam?) and simply enjoy this magical day with my beloved.
