Great Journey 🇩🇰 Day 573/574
We just leave Felix and take the metro into town. As soon as we arrive in Christianshavn, we want to climb the twisted church tower of the "Vor Frelsers Kirke". The sore muscle god understands us and closes the door to the tower right in front of us. Oh, what a pity. So at least we burst into a mass baptism and marvel at the baptised children, beaming parents, grandparents and even more godparents. Oh yes, and the organ. And everything else you admire in a church.

We stroll through the free city of Christiania, reach Nyhavn and - promenade freaky as we are - have to sit down in the front row of the street cafés and watch the hustle and bustle. Once again we realise that the winter was quite intense this time and the spring-like hustle and bustle at the harbour does us and probably everyone else a lot of good.

It doesn't take long and Gerd buys us tickets for a boat tour. A little later we are sitting together with an international crowd on a tourist boat with a multilingual tour guide. Here the opera, there the Amalienburg. Oh, the Crown Prince is at home, the royals are probably not at the moment. But Hans Christian Andersen's Little Mermaid is sitting on the shore, squinting in the spring sun.

We let ourselves be ferried through the canals, then stroll around again on foot and follow our daughter's advice to definitely pay a visit to Broens Gadekøkken (open-air food market).

On the way to Felix's place (why are we walking so much today?) we pass the waste incineration plant "CopenHill", where you can ski on the roof. Crazy, the Danes!

When we fall into the nest in the evening, our feet are burning, our hearts are happy and we realise that cities are really our thing in spring! Copenhagen has already conquered our hearts on the first day.
