Bye Instagram
First things first: we will only be sharing our travel experiences here on Instagram until the end of August.

And now the important part: Thank you all for following our journey here on Instagram. We often felt like we really knew all of you.

We would like to take you with us in our decision. And those who know us know that we are slow. That decisions have to mature. And this decision did. Almost a year.

Since the beginning of our journey, all articles have been published 1:1 on our website. If you didn't want to miss anything, you could always subscribe to the newsletter and get our travel diary in your mailbox every Friday (you can choose) or whenever something new comes along. This will continue to be the case. Regardless of algorithms, likes and app-driven interaction.

But why?

Instagram and Facebook are basically not for us to share our journey. They are highly manipulative systems that reinforce one thing in us humans: addictions. And weaken our ability to pay attention. Have you ever scrolled through Instagram or Facebook and after 10 or 30 minutes you could tell exactly what you saw?

Exactly!

First we were confused ourselves. Then disgusted. First by the apps, then even by ourselves. What are we doing? What are we wasting our time on? Especially the realisation that we ourselves have become addicted made us sad and yes, helpless.

Then, a few weeks ago, the first step: the apps were deleted from the smartphone, we only controlled the active time on the platforms from the laptop and it became significantly less as a result. It was only a matter of time before we said goodbye to the platforms as an active posting part.

We have decided to stop actively reporting on our journey here as of September. So if you want to read or perhaps just skim through all the contributions at your preferred time without manipulation and financially-oriented reader control, you are cordially invited to take a look at Leben-pur.ch from time to time.

For those who would like to understand our decision in more depth, we recommend the following information:

"Social Dilemma", a documentation of the mechanisms behind social media

"Digital Minimalism", a book or also an audio book (available on Spotify)

We are deeply grateful for the wonderful exchange here and have always enjoyed meeting one or the other in person. All this can remain, but no longer on the two platforms.

Should there ever be another platform that has a truly unifying goal, we will take a close look at it and then make a new decision. Until then, we would be happy if you followed our journey on our website from September onwards.

Kind regards - Gerd & Heike

Merci for "travelling with us

We are thinking about taking another break from travelling in the summer and visiting our families in Germany and Switzerland. One of the ideas is to organise a Lecture about our long journey to the Persian Gulf to prepare. If you would like to, what would interest you the most? We will also tell stories here that don't find a place here on the blog. We're thinking of the Bern and Berlin area - simply because we have family there. But other places are also conceivable. Feel free to write to us.

By the way, we are travelling through Iran. It's possible that we won't be writing posts at all or will be late. We first have to see if it works for us. And whether we can even manage to write down all the fantastic impressions in good time.

Do you think our travel experiences might be of interest to others? Then you can share the Share post quietly. By e-mail or however you want to do it.

In addition, if you haven't already done so, you can use our Newsletter subscribe. Here you will receive all our experiences in your mailbox whenever we publish something new or once a week on Fridays: live-pur.ch/newsletter

We are also very happy to hear your views, your tips or your questions. Just comment on the post!
