Great Journey 🇸🇪 Day 526
Lapland means vastness, silence and solitude. We drive slowly. On the one hand, because such road conditions are unknown to us. But even more so to grasp this vastness. When we get out and leave the road, there is nothing but silence around us.

Forest. We observe mixed forests, untidy, wild mixed forests. It's almost impossible to simply trudge through the woods: undergrowth grows everywhere. And then these masses of snow. And again and again: silence.

Our ancient ski trousers rustle as we walk, our eyes water in the fresh -20 degrees and our hands clench into fists in our gloves to keep from freezing. The battery of the camera (the only one, we are really pros for cold!) thinks its piece and sets itself to stubborn (resp. to "off").

The last great wilderness of Europe, or the land of the midnight sun, is what Lapland calls itself. Lapland also means vast swamps just hiding under great masses of snow, lakes and rivers (equally hidden under ice and snow) and forested mountains.

We, however, enjoy the silence, the seclusion, the 5 to 6 hours of (sun)light and, if we are honest, also the proximity to the only and very well cleared connecting road. Again and again we stop, admire, marvel and enjoy.

Can someone pinch us?
Suddenly something has come true.
