Great Journey 🏍 Day 73

In the evening there is another knock at our door. Once again it's our snooze mum. She waves a piece of paper and laughingly calls out to us: "Lesson one!

During the day we told her about our funny, but so far miserable attempts to learn Greek. She laughed and said that she and her youngest son had to learn all the letters anyway (1st grade!). We were just in time.

She really did write down all the letters once, with phonetic transcription. And promptly recorded a voice message. We should learn all the letters. Read everywhere.

The whole thing has a number of snags: there are 5 different "i "s, 2 different "e "s and "o "s. In addition, there are strange things like the s in the middle of the word looking completely different from the one at the end of the word. Then there are various Cyrillic-like characters that I recognise a little, but Gerd doesn't recognise at all. And then there are characters that are more reminiscent of the beautiful glyphs from Sri Lanka.

Thank you, dear Katerina, for your help! Starting tomorrow, we will test our new knowledge on all signs and inscriptions.

So now, in addition to our regular Zoom sessions every 2 days, we have a Madame Kontroletti who checks everything nicely that we learn (or don't learn).

But one thing we have already learned: here, everything is done quietly. And if not today, then tomorrow.
