And suddenly, after one last beautiful mountain stretch, I'm back at the Sea of Marmaris. The longing somehow makes Malou and me cover more (or faster?) distance than planned.
I take the ferry and a little later I'm in Europe! The hour-long ferry ride gives me a brief chance to reflect: In June, we crossed the Dardanelles Strait from Europe to Asia. A summer full of experiences lay ahead of us.
We were still joking that the next time we came here, the big new bridge would already be finished. Well, according to official statements, that will probably be in 2023. So I take the ferry to Gallipoli again. A historic place, I actually wanted to marvel at a bit of history here. And then everything turned out differently.
In front of the hotel that Dick recommended to us in Çannakale months ago (Dick was the motorcyclist who had come all the way from Malaysia and visited Troy with us!
So: no history! When motorcyclists meet, they chat. I also start looking for a test centre - tomorrow I want to cross the Greek border. The two are on their way home, one by car train, the other also via Greece. For me it also means: digital paperwork. Entry forms and stuff like that. How we liked to divide these things up. But this time (not for long!) I have to go through it alone.
The evening will be cosy and in the morning - I can already hear it very clearly - Greece is calling me! And maybe also a bit of beach and again some Aegean Sea!
