Great Journey 🇸🇪 Day 501
We have been in Karlskrona for a few days. We dropped anchor in the harbour and worked for two whole days.

Now we move on, after a leisurely morning we are standing in front of the still closed door of the Marine Museum. So slowly it becomes noticeable, once again we are too early. (Too early is also unpunctual, I can still hear myself saying, back then!)

When the doors open for us, we find ourselves in a very modern building with incredibly good exhibition design and in an interactive hands-on museum.

Thematically, of course - how could it be otherwise - it's mostly about the history of the navy, which is, of course, very military. We are more interested in technical things, shipbuilding, the change from sail to steam boats and the submarine section is also very impressive.

Along the way, we learn how a Jacob's staff works (and have accidentally made one more circumnavigation of the world while navigating ourselves...). We tug on pulleys and row on the lowest floor of a 400-year-old wooden sailing ship.

The museum seemed to be open only for us today (it doesn't seem to be peak season), the entrance is free and the people are very obliging. The entire exhibition is also labelled in English and - we discovered this too late - you can download a German audio guide to your mobile phone.

A real treat, not only in terms of content but also in terms of design.
