We may not remember birthdays, names or places so well. But we can remember encounters with people, stories, regional food or certain scents.
And sometimes you're simply surprised: you're strolling through a historic old town, unsuspectingly, standing in front of the most loving sugar bakery, and then you have a problem.
"What should I have?" There are three of us, each of us could eat 2 pieces of cake if we were in good shape (does fitness possibly even come from confectionery?). That makes 6 of at least 20 types of cake.
Who actually thought up the idea that you have to choose? Can't we do like Astrid Lindgren's Pippi and just try everything once?
At some point, however, "the one up there" wins and orders only a few German cake pies. Oh, how I have missed them. Such a wonderful cheesecake is high on the "yummy list". Although southern sweets or Swiss Nussgipfeli are also quite delicious. But cheesecake or poppy-seed cake? They're in a whole other league!
I have a new idea: to visit the pastry shops of Germany and become a cake tester. Even if it means that we have to load up and Gerd has to do the 7.5 t licence. But it would be worth it for us (me)!
