Georgia - the land of missing bumpers
On the road, it's backlighting instead of consideration.
People overtake even when there is oncoming traffic. Or precisely because of it?
The roads outside the motorway are more like "earth roads", as our navi app kindly points out. And friendly cows sleep or stroll on all roads, including the motorway.
The potholes are quite remarkable, so it's understandable if you sink part of your vehicle in them. But we are surprised that so many cars drive without bumpers or whatever they are called at the front and rear.
We have different theories:
I believe that they are simply not repaired after a "ditscher". Gerd says you take them off as a precaution, then they can't get broken in a "ditcher". Either way, the sight is new for us.
And we don't want to judge. To judge in this case would mean: we would be above it, we would know better. That's not exactly what it is. We don't presume to know better. We are not in the system, we don't know the real reasons. We only feel ourselves, not the people here. If we wanted to find happiness in the judgement of others, we wouldn't have had to travel. Regular television viewing at home would have sufficed for that. Instead, we are just amazed.
PS: By the way, we wonder if this could even be a new business concept for us: "Bumpers for Georgia". (In our case, "by the way" means: we have been driving a comfortable road with many traffic-slowing trucks in front of and behind us for too long and have time for such mind games).
