Great Journey 🇸🇪 Day 530
We drive out "into the countryside". A 70-kilometre dead-end road leads us to nowhere. A few houses, 14 inhabitants and a nice village square. Just the right place to finally see the northern lights.

So, dear Northern Lights, we are ready! We are well rested (hurray for the nap), the sky is clear, the camera is very surprised that we switch from automatic to manual mode and the Aurora app shows increased solar activity, which we need for the sky spectacle.

I look out of the tower window and see it flickering. There! Is that a cloud or is that really a northern light? And suddenly it becomes more, more intense... It dances back and forth over Felix.

We have never been dressed so quickly. We quickly fill up the hot water bottle, set up the tripod (Eimer-Bau brand, if you're interested we'd be happy to pass on the construction instructions!) and then we're amazed. Once again we don't know: enjoy first or take pictures?

We decide to enjoy it first. The lights buzz around, twist, glow in grey, green and even red-orange-purple at the edge. At some point we try to capture this wonder on camera. It works a little bit, but honestly we don't care how good the photos turn out.

At some point we realise that if we don't get into our heated little house soon, parts of us will just freeze off. The thermometer shows -24 degrees, the nose-tip feeling temperature is far below that.

In the warmth we look at each other, give each other one of the rare high-fives, beam and can hardly believe our luck. In our "lounge" we and the camera slowly thaw out again, never before have we emptied the camera card and examined the pictures so quickly. In terms of pictures, there is still room for improvement, but in terms of memories, our account is full to bursting.
