Great Journey 🏍 Day 287
For the third time on our trip, we get a visit from home. Our son accompanies us for a week through İstanbul.

We move into a flat in the Beyoğlu district right next to Kalata Kulesi and live in the middle of a lively and beautiful neighbourhood.

We drift through the city and take a lot of time for each other. We chat a lot, wander through İstanbul's art and drawing shops, his eyes light up at the sight of the large selection and his bag gradually fills up with drawing paper and pencils.

"I don't drink black tea!" were his first words after arriving. However, he quickly adapted his opinion to the local habits and used every possible break for the Çay served here.

Even before tea is served, he takes out his sketchpad and starts drawing. Here the mosque, there the tablecloth pattern, sometimes on mum's arm. And if the colour is missing, coffee or berry juice will have to do.

The many mosaics, structures, ornaments and foreign forms seem to inspire him. I almost thought so.

And us? Enjoy the time with him, the time for long conversations and watch him doing what he has loved to do since childhood: drawing.
