We end up in Karlovy Vary a bit unplanned and, above all, completely uninformed. While our low-low budget hotel is "quite nice", the other hostels here seem to be fighting the battle of "who is more glitzy than the other".
We also bring the average age down considerably. Those who spend their holidays here have been enjoying their retirement age for a while. Spa treatment in the morning, cream cake in the afternoon (perfect customer loyalty programme!). Udo Jürgen's "But please with cream" seems to have originated here. Let's assume.
And quite honestly? We feel at home. Stroll through the alleys, wander into the surrounding woods that some Charlemagne (the Great?) is supposed to have laid out, and find that when we're old, we go here for: "fango in the morning, tango in the evening!"
