Grand Tour - Ireland - Day 713
The night was cool and starry (at least I think so, as I sleep without glasses and see blurry white on black through the skylight) and the morning is sunny. Today is cliff-coast driving day.

After 8 kilometres, the first stop: beach, hiking trail and "old acquaintances" from the Wicklow Mountains. We park our Felix with the best view, walk along the cliff walk, burn our noses for the umpteenth time and stop for a cosy espresso in the colourful little town of Eyeries.

Eyeries, one of the most south-westerly villages in Ireland, is situated on a cliff overlooking Coulagh Bay and captivates with its brightly painted houses. Unfortunately, we don't find out why this is so. It is certainly pretty to look at. Writing and artist retreats are also held here regularly. We can well imagine being kissed by the muse here.

We, however, are happy about the neighbour's camper dog Olaf (and he is happy about us too, Gerd is the most persistent stick thrower ever), spend the evening together with Olaf's "parents" with good conversations and a cosy campfire.

Daily kilometres: 8
Jorge Luis Borges once said: "I would take fewer things so seriously. I would risk more, take more time to look at sunsets, climb more mountains, swim in more rivers. I would live more slowly, do less and be more."

Merci for "travelling with us

We are thinking about taking another break from travelling in the summer and visiting our families in Germany and Switzerland. One of the ideas is to organise a Lecture about our long journey to the Persian Gulf to prepare. If you would like to, what would interest you the most? We will also tell stories here that don't find a place here on the blog. We're thinking of the Bern and Berlin area - simply because we have family there. But other places are also conceivable. Feel free to write to us.
