Great Journey 🏍 Day 80

Olive harvest. Green nets are placed under the trees. Many branches are cut off. The branches are shaken in a vibrator (which is what a vibrator does) and at some point many jute sacks are filled with olives.

They then take the sacks to the oil mill (or whatever it's called there) and burn the harvested branches on site. Fresh, not dried. It doesn't matter if a couple of travellers stranded here are sitting on their balcony (as they do all day!) and disappear in the smoke.
But we persevere, knowing that it seems to have a good purpose, this burning of the branches.

Later we learn that this will no longer be allowed from 2022 onwards, when shredding will have to take place. But until then, the entire landscape will be scented like smoke signals.

But: the oil is first class! We like to smoke it on our lookout!

Here you can enjoy freshly pressed olive oil.
Also something fine.
Anything that comes from the home table cannot be compared to bought stuff.

Continue to have a great time.
