Do you know the world-famous Rhine kilometre 550?
No? You've missed out. The town of Oberwesel is a sweet little town just before (or behind, as the case may be) the Loreley. Well, actually the Loreley, because Ley should probably mean rock. But who wants to know that exactly when the main source of nourishment here is wine and the word Loreley sounds increasingly slurred after the third glass.
As non-drinkers or barely alcohol drinkers, we are somewhat at a loss, so we have to make do with small city walls, tarte flambée, Unesco world thingy gardens, castles galore, the world's smallest meteorite museum and Father Rhine. And, we can say this: really nice here. Cosy. Sociable. Simply beautiful. Just what you'd expect from a kilometre like 550.
