great journey - ireland - day 7152 we have to admit it the ring of kerry does not inspire us now

Grand Tour - Ireland - Day 715/2
We have to admit it: the Ring of Kerry doesn't excite us that much now. We have to drive much too fast with the current, all the viewpoints at the roadside are full of coaches and already we long for the solitude of the past peninsula.

A short stop at the legendary luxury hotel and a hike along the really beautiful coast here are still possible. When we ask at the hotel for a coffee on the cosy terrace, we are offered coffee in a paper cup. Since we generally reject paper cups and for once don't have our cups with us (who would expect paper cups in luxury hotels?) we turn around and get into our mobile coffee van.

At the last corner at the back we find what we are looking for. Here we enter the village. Then the narrow one-lane cul-de-sac to the end. I navigate Gerd to the pier of a tiny harbour.

We stand a little off to the side on the grassy green verge, set up our chairs in Felix's lee and take a look out at the sea.

In the course of the entire afternoon, three or four cars drive by.
There is a sign on the pier: "Fishing competition today". Aha. Four participants go out to sea on small boats, they return hours later. They are weighed and measured. The event is over, the people go home again.

We pump up our SUP and I am happy about the wind-protected bay, about the small island that has to be circumnavigated and about the meditative calm that grips me outside on the almost mirror-smooth Atlantic.

Later in the evening, I realise that neglecting sport over the last few months has not been the best idea. Climbing over the ground in bed is completely inelegant thanks to sore limbs.

Merci for "travelling with us

We are thinking about taking another break from travelling in the summer and visiting our families in Germany and Switzerland. One of the ideas is to organise a Lecture about our long journey to the Persian Gulf to prepare. If you would like to, what would interest you the most? We will also tell stories here that don't find a place here on the blog. We're thinking of the Bern and Berlin area - simply because we have family there. But other places are also conceivable. Feel free to write to us.

By the way, we are travelling through Iran. It's possible that we won't be writing posts at all or will be late. We first have to see if it works for us. And whether we can even manage to write down all the fantastic impressions in good time.

Do you think our travel experiences might be of interest to others? Then you can share the Share post quietly. By e-mail or however you want to do it.

In addition, if you haven't already done so, you can use our Newsletter subscribe. Here you will receive all our experiences in your mailbox whenever we publish something new or once a week on Fridays: live-pur.ch/newsletter

We are also very happy to hear your views, your tips or your questions. Just comment on the post!

Beautiful pictures nonetheless.
And who needs a luxury hotel when you can bring your own?

I repeat myself again: indescribably beautiful photos that make you want to visit Ireland.
I find the luxury hotel with the paper cups more of a rip-off... how much more inviting your beautifully laid table on the coast!!!!
