Great Journey 🇸🇪 Day 535
On such a long journey, we are not closed off from the world. We exchange information online. We keep in touch and ask for advice. One day we will be able to offer advice and support, but until then we have to make all the mistakes ourselves!
In Jukkasjärvi we met Silke and Jan, both long-term travellers. Sometimes they travel the world on motorbikes, then they live for months in a VW Passat and currently a T4 is their home.
We met her in Bulgaria, later in Turkey and also in Georgia. Actually, we couldn't be more different, yet we find common ground: I find a soul mate in Jan as far as coffee consumption is concerned. We learn from them that you have to have a separate compartment for caps you wear to bed, and now we also know that there is butane (bu = ew) and propane (pro = good in winter) in our heating gas.
We talk shop about Russian fan heaters (now we know where our fuse box is) vs. ready-made LaStrada heating construction. Exchange spices - as always with other travellers. Discuss travellers & tourists. Trying to understand each other and realising that we all only boil with water, are always looking for public laundries, something freezes on every van when it's below minus 20 degrees and that social media is not the real world after all.
Only when we say goodbye to them after a few cosy days with long conversations do we notice that we now have to refill the water less often again. The tea and coffee parties have taken their toll. But now we quickly turn on the water tap, fill it up quickly and from now on we can announce our next coffee visit!
