The best thing is to have people around you from whom you can learn and at the same time really like them. My dear friend is such a treasure. She hikes up and down mountains with me, drives with us all over Switzerland and can cook like a star. But I especially love her for teaching me words that I've never needed before and could have lived quite wonderfully without.
For example, this year I learned the word "traverse". Yes, laugh, I didn't know the word! I could brag about some Russian terms for that, but no one is interested in them here in Switzerland! (I'm just saying: sightseeing...) So on the last hike we traversed for all we were worth. We even traversed a snowfield. We walked up especially "stubbornly" at the beginning and then traversed the plateau. I ask myself, what did I do in the past without the world-famous "traverse"? I guess I just walked "over" it.
