great journey - ireland - day 717 we stay a few days at the pier our office is quickly opened

Grand Tour - Ireland - Day 717
We stay at the pier for a few days. Our office is quickly opened, our gaze unfortunately slides from time to time to low tide or high tide instead of the screen. I spend my lunch break on the SUP, while Gerd flies our drone as an escort for me.

We spend the evenings on short walks along the coast. We pass a cemetery beautifully lit by the evening sun and meet other slow walkers.

As we are travellers, we have to move on after a few days. As we drive along the Ring of Kerry, we think about where we might go and see the next beach. The sunbathing lawn on the side is being used by two campers, and we would fit right in.

I quickly jump out, ask them if it's OK with them and - apparently normal for Irish people - we are immediately waved in. Of course, it's so beautiful here, you have to stay here. They point to the offshore islands, emphasise that these are the Skelligs and look expectantly into my face.

Of course I am happy about the beautiful Skelligs. But that doesn't seem to be enough. These are THE Skelligs! Ah, them. "Well, this is where Star Wars was filmed! Everyone comes just for that." Shit, once again my film ignorance takes revenge. Can't they have something on wool or publishing here? I'd have something to say about that.

While Gerd grandiosely turns on the spot in 27 moves and bumps into the meadow, the Irish camper pulls to the side and leaves the front row to us! No, that's not what I meant, I call out to him. He smiles, says he lives near here, he can look from the second row. Besides, he was going home in the evening anyway.

Once again, we are so incredibly excited about the friendliness of the people here.

Merci for "travelling with us

We are thinking about taking another break from travelling in the summer and visiting our families in Germany and Switzerland. One of the ideas is to organise a Lecture about our long journey to the Persian Gulf to prepare. If you would like to, what would interest you the most? We will also tell stories here that don't find a place here on the blog. We're thinking of the Bern and Berlin area - simply because we have family there. But other places are also conceivable. Feel free to write to us.

Do you think our travel experiences might be of interest to others? Then you can share the Share post quietly. By e-mail or however you want to do it.
