Grand Tour - Ireland - Day 718
Gerd gets a one-day flu and is in bed. I actually have more work to do than planned. So we stay here with the Skelligs for another night.
The evening light bathes the beach in golden light, I once again have the most awesome - sorry for the expression - workplace in the world.
Actually, I wanted to go out here again with the SUP, but realise pretty quickly that that probably won't work. If there are windsurfers and surfers, it's more likely to be windsurfing and surfing water. Nothing for glass-smooth-water SUPperin Heike.
So I enjoy the lonely evening all alone. Gerd just lies in bed and sleeps. That is his recovery programme.
The obligatory walk on the beach for me to a Holy Well, which are sacred little wells here. Of course, fairies and other spirits invisible to us travellers live at or in them. I take a sip of healing water, wash my hands and face (let's see if it helps...) and then, as the sun disappears and the air and sand abruptly cool down, make my way home to our cosy cottage.
A documentary about the filming of StarWars is on the internet TV (I don't want to die a complete fool and secretly hope that I can at least remember the difference between Star Wars and StarTrek) and at some point I am drawn to my triple-covered and sleeping husband. We don't need heating today, Gerd radiates warmth like a tiled stove.
Hopefully he will be well again tomorrow.
Merci for "travelling with us
