Great Journey 🏍 Day 116
Christmas presents on the road.
It's hardly possible to send mail back and forth. The Greek postal system seems to have sunk into chaos and thus into complete inactivity.
This year we decide, actually our daughter, that there is nothing. She wants to donate. To an animal shelter or something. We are immediately on board, but to which one? But she already has an idea. It should be something with cats, something in Greece. After all, she says, we are here and there are certainly local organisations that help. We find a lot. But somehow we can't decide.

And then: good things are so close. In the mini-market not far from our accommodation, the owner and her husband take care of about 15 cats. These little strays are fed, but also taken to the vet in Kalamata, about 50 km away, vaccinated, castrated, examined and, if necessary, operated on. You know, everything that comes up. We decide to give her our entire "family Christmas money". At first she is a bit irritated, but then she starts beaming and says several times "It really helps!

A few days later, Gerd is quickly there alone to buy a loaf of bread, they try their luck: "Don't you want to have a cat or two, you can always use them on a property!" Do they know that he finds it so hard to say "no" to cats? Still he remains steadfast. And I decide not to let him go to the mini-market alone any more.
