Great Journey 🇸🇪 Day 537
Abisko, now.

We hike through the national park. OK, it's 77 km² in size. Of course, we can't do it all. Because it's winter and without snowshoes this deep snow trudging is really exhausting.

At Narurum Abisko, the information centre, we learn a lot about the flora & fauna. The pictures are impressive, it must be beautiful here in all seasons.

While wandering around, we discover the Abisko Gorge, where the river Abiskojåkka has cut through the rock walls. Very impressive, especially in winter. We pass a frozen waterfall, once again encounter an invisible lake (typical Sweden!) and then also learn that the mountain railway is closed because of all the wind. Oh well, we'll just hike around the bottom.

Because one thing is clear, we want to get over to Norway. So we have to cross the mountains anyway. Here we will admire the view from Felix's windows. Until this moment, we hadn't quite realised that we were going to have a little adventurous night-time border experience.

Somehow it's funny, Abisko was one of our destinations here in the north. And now, just before we leave Sweden for the first time, we feel a kind of driven. We want to go on. We can't really get involved with Abisko.

But that's how it is sometimes: we move on. When life wants it that way, we just follow it.
