Great Journey 🏍 Day 88

After we told our landlady that we would probably extend our stay, she actually put a small Christmas tree in our flat. Thank God, not a green bling-bling plastic tree, but a dried fig tree branch with a few glittering Christmas beauties.

There are actually a few Christmas traditions here that we don't know. But now we can get to know them. We are excited. First we enjoy the kourabiedes baked by grandma. They taste like vanilla crescents without the vanilla, crumbly and very sugary. Exactly what we like.

Since there are neither gingerbread nor speculoos spices here, I make myself a mixture of cinnamon, nails, honey and pepper. It has to be something somehow, with lots of sugar and cocoa at the end - it would be a laugh if I couldn't make Christmas biscuits here.

Besides, there is no blender or anything like that in our small kitchen. Instead, I made a deal with Uta - she lets me go grind nuts. That's how it works here. And it's actually a lot of fun.

A wonderful first Advent to you all!
