Day 1 of the Swiss Grand Tour. From Bern via Lucerne (lunch with the son) and on to Appenzell. Because I actually wanted to "join" the Swiss Grand Tour in Appenzell. But even the day of arrival was a challenge: beautiful surroundings, wonderful landscape. The biggest challenge for me as a beginner was the ferry. Suddenly the sat nav pointed sharply to the left. Me: no, there's a lake. The sat nav: yes, there is! (Normally I have my own opinion!) So I turn around and go down to the ferry. Waited 15 minutes (I couldn't have stood it any longer because I was so excited) and then she came. I've never ridden a motorbike on a ferry before. I was so excited. Where should I stand? What happens when there's a swell? Ohjeminee. Okay. Eyes open and through. I rolled up there very cool, got down, paid and then: that was it. It wasn't so bad. The subsequent sea breeze did a good job of cooling me down (I was really warm with excitement!!!) I rode down quite easily. It's no big deal, you've learned your lesson. ? Then it was on to Rapperswil and then through the Toggenburg region (I think). I ended up in Appenzell. But more about that later. Day 1 = great! Weather 6-12 degrees, no rain.
