Great Journey 🏍 Day 357/1
Our hiking hearts leap for joy. Our legs, however, would like to have wings in the evening to transport the bodies on them from A to B like elves.

The Truso Valley. A hiker's paradise. Or as they say here: trekking. What exactly the difference is has not yet become clear to us. We hike. Well, mostly it's hiking for us, more sporty people call it walking when they are on the road with us.

After we let the Heerstrasse take us along the 6-kilometre rumble road to the entrance of the gorge, we start walking. Geologically it is a real treasure, if one knew how to appreciate it. We walk past splintery wooden walls, a little later we learn from the nature guide that they are slate and/or basalt walls. (I can already see them shaking their heads, the geologists among you!)

With the knowledge of basalt or slate (doesn't really matter to us, still looks like wood!) we keep walking along the Tergi, a noisy river. Suddenly I want to blame Gerd for something ("There's something in the air!") that turns out to be a bubbling sulphur spring a little later. It smells like rotten eggs for a while. The riverbanks, on the other hand, glow in all kinds of shades.

We hike on, filling our bottles at small, very clear tributaries and encountering cows, goats, sheep, horsemen and actually two hikers.

Suddenly the gorge opens up and we see travertine terraces. Here water flows over limestone, very pretty to look at and surprisingly easy to walk on. While it all looks very slippery and slippery, it is absolutely dull.

After this slide test, a hand-painted sign pleases our eyes: "Camping-Café". So we cross the suspension bridge and head for the café. Until we notice that there are tables there. Only tables. You can have a picnic there. We don't, because we still have a long way to go and we have to be careful with our supplies. Although we are very good at eating everything right after the start.
