30 December 2018

While we are in the meantime in the Lünerburger Heide nursing ourselves and our colds, here are a few more reviews. It's been less than 4 weeks since our Highway No. 1 road trip. And I could wallow in the memories and pictures. A little trip to Hearst Castle. 100 years ago, the great publisher Hearst wanted to build himself a little castle. It has to be said, he built it nicely. He went collecting in Europe, bought an Italian façade here, a Spanish one there. He needed a fountain like in ancient Rome. A pool for the divas of the early 20th century. And later an indoor pool. Oh, a tennis court was also needed. Of course, and because the place needed a bit of life, parties were held every week (he knew a lot of people now) and during the day you could look at the many animals, which of course all had to live here, and go on "safari". ⠀
Today Hearst Castle has been transferred to the State of California and serves as a museum. ⠀
Funny, the Americans... ⠀
