31 July 2020

Today's programme is all about imparting knowledge: history.

Kevin from America, "brand" ambassador from the Bergisches Land and a terrific entertainer, guides us through the castle and juggles with German terms, several dates and the customs of such a castle that we are amazed and still have great fun.

Let's get started:
"The shit is hitting the fan" You have to run away (actually storm), because then what we bring into the toilet today will be tipped off the tower. And the attackers bunk off. Sure, right?

Are you looking for a castle back then? "You could always smell castles, after all, they only had the thunderbolt to keep your bum out.

You want to get married? Then in the "merry month of May", which actually means "bathtub or washing month of May" because people bathe once a year, in the bathtub month of May. Very practical that at least before the wedding night everything is freshly cleaned from top to bottom.

The "Berg-Fried" pacifies, protects. Once again, Berg does not come from the mountain, but from bergen, protect, possibly also conceal.

The Bergisch thing is starting to drive me crazy... You can't believe anything.
