The beauty of Switzerland is that you can just turn off into any side valley and you've got it nice. While there is already a lot of holiday traffic on the Oberalp Pass and the associated road from Andermatt to Chur, we take the turnoff to the Göscheneralp. I remember that you are allowed to park your camper at the top of the hut.
The road winds up between rock faces for 30 minutes. At the top, the hiking tourism has already arrived for dinner - we have the reservoir and the view of the Dammagletscher all to ourselves.
We get to talk to the goat herder up here. And learn a lot about him. That he actually comes from Graubünden, but has to mow the entire slope of the dam wall here with special mowing machines. That he really enjoys his work in the mountains and that for half the year - the winter half-year - there is really nothing going on up here.
We make coffee for the mowing helpers and start talking. One has taken the weekend off for the goats, comes from IT in some big city. The other comes from Belgium, has been searching for the meaning of his life for half a year and hopes to find it here. The third one sits on the sidelines, doesn't want to know anything about all this and meditates as long as the break lasts and the head mower is back with his tractor.
Mountain romance. Simply beautiful.
In the late evening, the sky briefly turns blue again. Then it disappears behind thick rain clouds.
So the 1st of August, the Swiss bank holidays, will literally fall through tomorrow. Instead of a hearty farmer's brunch on the Susten, which we had actually planned (it's a good thing we haven't signed up yet), we have our own brunch on Felix's roof with zero-zero views and pattering raindrops. We make ourselves comfortable, read a little and roll "home" towards Bern around noon.

Our first lectures in Switzerland are planned. Others in Germany could follow. We'll see. We would love to take you into the Persian world somewhere in western Germany and also in the Berlin area. We are still looking for venues. If you know anything, please write to us.
