And on it goes, the tour of friends. Harald and Heike are on the programme today. Unfortunately - due to our short notice - only Harald can welcome us.
After a cosy coffee and cake break, we hike through the Stubai Valley. What a beautiful area! We chat about the past years of our journey and the future ideas of all our lives. And again, quiet thoughts about life in old age creep into our conversations. How nice it is to be able to think about it free from pressure and suffering.
We have fond memories of Harald. Because three years ago, when Gerd Malouour motorbike, from Georgia home he couldn't get a hotel room anywhere because he was vaccinated (my goodness, those were the days!). In the Stubai Valley he found a hostel for a few days.
Harald and Heike have another little pearl: her name is Nelly and we would love to take her with us. Such a pretty thing! But we realise that the landlord has a much closer bond with his four-legged and long-haired Nelly. We don't even dare to ask for fun.
We continue on to Imst. Another valley in beautiful Tyrol. Here we visit friends we met in Getting to know Bulgaria that we have in the Turkey hit again who have already have visited Switzerland and now we are making our first "home visit". We are full of memories of Iran, they are full of longing for Iran. And yes, they were the ones who put this Iran flea in our ears years ago. They kept telling us about their experiences there. And yes, they also allayed our initial concerns, which anyone who has not yet spoken to travellers to Iran probably has. Now we are the ones talking. We laugh, spend wonderful hours and sleep better than we have in the last few weeks right outside the house under the brightest streetlight that has ever shone in our roof window.
After a really wonderful and cosy breakfast, we set off in the direction of Switzerland. As we cross the Rhine and the Switzerland sign indicates our home country, we look around and realise how nice it is to arrive home so slowly, so comfortably and yet so calmly. But more about that another time.
