Great Journey 🇫🇷 Day 617

great journey day 617 looking for a quiet and in the nature situated pitch in the v

In search of a quiet campsite in the Vosges Mountains, surrounded by nature, we pass a castle. Oh dear, there will probably be more castles and palaces along the way in future.

The road winds around the mountain, Felix gives everything to push his heavy butt up there. At the top we enjoy the view, later the castle, still later the first spritzer of the season.

Our first little travel highlight in France: Hohkönigsburg Castle. It doesn't really feel like a trip yet, more like an excursion. This morning we had breakfast at mum's kitchen table and did the bookkeeping.

We learn from Gigi (who is now called TripTastic)Our loyal, almost-all-knowing travel app tells us that we have just landed in one of the most frequented tourist spots in France. That's what happens when you're unprepared and just wandering around.

Hm, we realise that it will probably not be such a quiet place to spend the night. We drive on, winding through the Vosges, and a little later find a deserted spot by a small river with an almost empty cemetery. It suits us here, here the birds are chirping, here the whatever-it-is is buzzing (outside, after all we have mosquito nets everywhere!) and we think we have really hit it off well for the first real summer day.

A bit of hiking, a bit of history, apple spritzer and a melon salad in the evening. Yes, dear summer, we are ready for more of you!

Merci for "travelling with us

We are thinking about taking another break from travelling in the summer and visiting our families in Germany and Switzerland. One of the ideas is to organise a Lecture about our long journey to the Persian Gulf to prepare. If you would like to, what would interest you the most? We will also tell stories here that don't find a place here on the blog. We're thinking of the Bern and Berlin area - simply because we have family there. But other places are also conceivable. Feel free to write to us.
