Great Journey Day 625

great voyage day 625 we land in dover. the maw of the ferry opens it rains - have

We land in Dover. The mouth of the ferry opens, it rains - we didn't expect anything else - and many lorry drivers and also we meander out onto land.

Left-hand traffic. Oha! Roundabouts go the other way round, right of way is also granted differently. Turning right is a big deal, but turning left is easy. When walking across the street, look again where first? Rescue drops are ready for the little accompanying panic bags of the co-driver.

Then there are the speed limits in miles (great, Felix only knows km/h) and parking machines from the last millennium: coins! Of course we don't have any money yet, so Gerd asks a lady for a small coin exchange and we get 2 pounds to feed the parking meter.

The roads are very narrow, oncoming traffic is of course always on the wrong side, i.e. the passenger side, and parking spaces for our somewhat longer Felix are better taken across.

First days in new countries are always kind of the same: check the road traffic, get money, get sim cards for sufficient internet, browse through grocery shops and go out for a typical meal. Everyday travel.

And we have received super-friendly support at least four times today. Everyone wishes us a good time here, everyone is helpful. Today, people were able to collect a lot of karma points through our beginner's goofiness!

Merci for "travelling with us

We are thinking about taking another break from travelling in the summer and visiting our families in Germany and Switzerland. One of the ideas is to organise a Lecture about our long journey to the Persian Gulf to prepare. If you would like to, what would interest you the most? We will also tell stories here that don't find a place here on the blog. We're thinking of the Bern and Berlin area - simply because we have family there. But other places are also conceivable. Feel free to write to us.

Do you think our travel experiences might be of interest to others? Then you can share the Share post quietly. By e-mail or however you want to do it.

In addition, if you haven't already done so, you can use our Newsletter subscribe. Here you will receive all our experiences in your mailbox whenever we publish something new or once a week on Fridays: live-pur.ch/newsletter

We are also very happy to hear your views, your tips or your questions. Just comment on the post!
