Great Journey Day 628

That's what happens when you dawdle haphazardly through the countryside. Somewhere I read something about the cosy coastal towns. Well then, let's go somewhere and see if we can sit comfortably on a promenade. Observe situations and maybe drink an espresso.

You should be careful when you wish for things. They might come true. What was wrong with "cosy seaside resort"?

We arrive in Clacton-on-Sea and instead of the (we expected) tranquil pier and the (we expected) cosy beach promenade we get into total experience-and-emotion chaos.

Gerd will later say that everything, really everything, that he likes here is only present in the opposite. Noise. Rubbish. Children in amusement arcades. Here, mothers are already pushing their children in prams into the so-called fun parks, where cuddly toy machines and those "one-armed bandits" stand side by side. Smoking? Sure, allowed!

There is shouting, excitement, anger. There is betting. And music and loudspeaker announcements try to counter all the noise. When a little hunger comes up in us, we don't really find anything besides chips that a human body should eat.

We quickly hurry back to Felix, give away the second hour on the parking meter, separate ourselves energetically from this place and only when green hedges appear on the road to the right and left do we calm down. We roll away, far away.

(I tried not to take any photos of the many children's souls).

Merci for "travelling with us

We are thinking about taking another break from travelling in the summer and visiting our families in Germany and Switzerland. One of the ideas is to organise a Lecture about our long journey to the Persian Gulf to prepare. If you would like to, what would interest you the most? We will also tell stories here that don't find a place here on the blog. We're thinking of the Bern and Berlin area - simply because we have family there. But other places are also conceivable. Feel free to write to us.

Do you think our travel experiences might be of interest to others? Then you can share the Share post quietly. By e-mail or however you want to do it.

In addition, if you haven't already done so, you can use our Newsletter subscribe. Here you will receive all our experiences in your mailbox whenever we publish something new or once a week on Fridays: live-pur.ch/newsletter

We are also very happy to hear your views, your tips or your questions. Just comment on the post!
