England - Leeds & a visit to Sassoon

big trip day 637 leeds. we have only one destination in leeds itself sassoon. since we were on trip 1

Leeds. We have only one destination in Leeds itself: Sassoon. Since we've been on the trip, I've been suffering from acute hairlessness, cutting my own fringes with nail scissors.

Before we get to the salon, however, we stroll through the city, discovering beautiful old-time shopping arcades with small, sugary shops. We stroll through a market hall and admire another beautiful, rather alternative and therefore all the more pleasant strolling option in the old grain exchange. Zero-waste shops, handmade goods and a tattoo studio next to a barbershop and record shop. A cosy mix in a great atmosphere.

My hairdresser (I confess to being an absolute and very, very loyal Sassoon customer and always enjoy the energy in the salons, even though it's been more than two years since my last visit) asks me what my favourite place in the UK is. I think about it and can't answer. All I can say is that we tend to remember encounters, people and then link the places with the emotions.

He lowers the comb and scissors, thinks for a moment and looks at me seriously in the mirror. "So I guess I'm in charge of Leeds now?" "Yes! Make something of it!" And we both laugh!

Freshly lace-cut, fringes corrected and blow-dried (and even straightened, hey, I live in a van and have straightened hair, what a paradox!) I meet my husband again in a street café and we try only one thing: to get out of Leeds. Because apart from pretty shopping galleries (we and shopping don't go together anyway) and a very good hairdresser, we don't find anything really appealing here. Okay, maybe a museum. More about that later.

Merci for "travelling with us

We are thinking about taking another break from travelling in the summer and visiting our families in Germany and Switzerland. One of the ideas is to organise a Lecture about our long journey to the Persian Gulf to prepare. If you would like to, what would interest you the most? We will also tell stories here that don't find a place here on the blog. We're thinking of the Bern and Berlin area - simply because we have family there. But other places are also conceivable. Feel free to write to us.

Do you think our travel experiences might be of interest to others? Then you can share the Share post quietly. By e-mail or however you want to do it.

In addition, if you haven't already done so, you can use our Newsletter subscribe. Here you will receive all our experiences in your mailbox whenever we publish something new or once a week on Fridays: live-pur.ch/newsletter
