Great Journey 🏴 Day 660

great trip 🏴 day 660 what a beautiful place we are very well equipped

What a beautiful place! We are well rested, the sea shimmers with South Sea beauty (why do people always compare?), we have a hearty breakfast and we couldn't be better off. This is exactly how we imagined Scotland to be.

Our Felix meanders along the NC500. And we can only recommend to everyone: drive counter-clockwise! From boring to beautiful! Behind almost every bend we have to stop, enjoy, take pictures.

After only 2 miles the first stop: Smoo Cave. The word Smoo is probably derived from the Old Norse word for crevice. Which fits. Today they say fjord to the salt-water-freshwater fissure in the rocky coast.

There are many scary stories about the gorge, some with fatal outcomes. We don't understand this, of course, because a well-secured hiking trail leads us down to the cave, up again and around the top. It's all very well organised, nothing more wild.

Since the whole area is so super beautiful, we suspect that when the summer holidays start, it will be full of campers. Even now we encounter more travelling snail shells than other vehicles.

We find the idea of being the wild explorers all by ourselves irritating in Europe today anyway. Why should we be the only ones to enjoy it? Let's just enjoy the beauty of Scotland together!

Merci for "travelling with us

We are thinking about taking another break from travelling in the summer and visiting our families in Germany and Switzerland. One of the ideas is to organise a Lecture about our long journey to the Persian Gulf to prepare. If you would like to, what would interest you the most? We will also tell stories here that don't find a place here on the blog. We're thinking of the Bern and Berlin area - simply because we have family there. But other places are also conceivable. Feel free to write to us.
